Choco Chen is a 15-year-old boy residing in New Jersey. His music journey started at the age seven. Ever since then, he has fostered an unwavering passion for classical music. His talent coupled with relentless hard work, has led him to leave marks in numerous competitions. Most recently, he emerged as one of the six winners chosen to perform at the prestigious 2023 National Young Virtuosi Recital Competition, a testament to his abilities. Furthermore, he has consistently excelled at the annual NJMEA audition, earning outstanding recognition and being awarded the title of Honor Recital Winner in 2022.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Choco has a deep commitment to community service through his gift in music. He is an active member of Musicians for Philanthropy, a group of young musicians dedicated to raising funds for individuals in need, including organizations such as Bergen Family of Promise and the Down Syndrome Society.
In addition to music, Choco is also a recognized chess player and a versatile athlete, playing soccer and volleyball at his high school teams. He believes that the invaluable lessons he gained from music, chess, and sports have contributed to shaping his character and fostering his personal growth.
