Christopher Qingchuan Wang is a senior at Winston Churchill High School. He currently studies violin with Mrs. Lya Stern.
Chris has been a member of the Maryland All State Orchestra for four consecutive years. He was also a member of the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra, playing as Principal second violin and first violin. He’s also an active member of the school orchestra family, a participant of the school Tri-M music honor society, as well as the president of the school music club.
Outside of school, Chris brings music into the community through service. He’s the co-founder of the Music Angels Club. The club is dedicated to the community’s wellbeing by presenting free music performances. In the past 9 months, the club has held more than 10 activities, recruited 100+ volunteers and served more than 500 seniors. The service includes free music performances in senior centers, free instrumental tutoring for students with special needs, traditional music and cultural stands at international nights to increase influence of the minority communities, etc. The club recently received a volunteer scholarship for its outstanding impact in the Asian American community.
Chris has also won many achievements in music. Some of the achievements include: Charleston International Winter Music Competition: 1st place (2025), YMIC Metropolitan classical Festival: 2nd place (2024), 3rd place(2025). He also received level 10 of the American String Teachers Association Certificate Advancement Program.
