
Claire Bao, a talented 11-year-old residing in Canton, MI, is a dedicated student at East Middle School. She has been a part of the prestigious and highly selective Talent and Gifted program since Grade 3.
Embarking on her musical journey at the age of five, Claire has been honing her piano skills through personalized one-on-one lessons provided by Hsiu-Hui Chen. Claire’s exploration of extraordinary rhythm, music technique, and flow has been a testament to her passion for the art. Claire’s musical prowess has earned her recognition and accolades in various international competitions: She has achieved First Prizes at the Golden Classical Music Awards in 2019, 2021, and 2022, as well as a Second Place finish at the American Protégé International Competition in 2019 and the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Competition in 2018. Notably, Claire received the EXCEPTIONAL YOUNG TALENT Special Prize for her age group at the Golden Classical Music Awards in 2021.
Beyond her piano performances, Claire also showcases her musical talent as the violinist for the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Orchestra. She has been an active local ballet school dancer for several years, and occasionally contributes as a ballet recital background music piano accompanist during the performances. Claire continues to expand her musical horizons by currently undertaking one-on-one violin lessons to deepen her appreciation for orchestral string instruments.
