Clara Marie Abrahams is a 17-year-old soprano from Northern California. She is currently studying voice with Alina Ilchuk at the Sacramento Academy of Musical Arts. In addition to Clara’s vocal training, she studied piano for over ten years with Noriko Meguro. In August 2020, she participated in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s Summer Intensive program, where she studied with César Ulloa and performed in a masterclass held by mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade. In the spring of 2021, Clara sang in a masterclass with mezzo-soprano Virginia Kelsey which was hosted by the California Capital Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. During the summer of 2021, Clara attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and performed in a masterclass with Carol Vaness. Clara worked with Rhoslyn Jones and Jonathan Beyer through the Curtis Mentor Network’s Audition Prep program, which she completed in December 2021. During the past two years, Clara has competed and has been awarded Grand Prix and First place in many competitions and has also sung in several online recitals hosted by the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She is a finalist for the Cal-Western Regional NATS 2021 Auditions. She will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City as a Gold Award Recipient of the Progressive Musicians Carnegie Hall Competition in February 2022.
