Colin Merkovsky is a 19 year old clarinetist and woodwind doubler from Northern New Jersey. He is currently a freshman in the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University where he is majoring in Music Education and is the principal clarinetist of the Wind Symphony and Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra. In high school, Colin was a two-time member of the Bergen County Honor Band, a two-time member of the North Jersey Region Band, and a one-time member of the New Jersey All-State Band. He is an active participant in the chamber music community at Montclair State where he plays clarinet and bass clarinet as a member of the school’s Clarinet Choir and Reed Quintet. Colin has participated in several masterclasses for esteemed professional clarinetists such as Anthony McGill and Pascal Archer. He is currently studying under the tutelage of Professor KeriAnn DiBari-Oberle and under her, has come in third place in the Camerata Artists International Solo Competition and is currently a finalist in the Music International Grand Prix solo competition.
