
Courtney Tam is a freshman at Newport High School in Bellevue, WA. Her first piano performance was at the age of four at a student recital in front of more than a hundred people. Since then, she has enjoyed performing and sharing the gift of music through festivals, recitals, community performances, and competitions for solo and ensemble. She recently completed an intensive pre-college chamber music program with the Seattle Chamber Music Society. Her showcase concert was performed at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, WA. Her most recent solo wins include: Gold medal from 2022 Pacific NW Piano Competition; Best of Festival award from the Jazz and Blues Festival, winner of the WA State Honors Recital Competition; top finalist at the Seattle Symphony Concerto Competition, 1st prize at the 2021 Charleston International Piano Competition, Gold medal from the Northern Lights International Festival in the Concerto and French Composer categories, Best of Festival awards from the Time Era Festival for two consecutive years, Gold medal at the Chopin NW competition. She is also the recipient of the Helen Crowe Scholarship (2022 and 2021) and Anna Rollins Scholarship (2021). In 2022, Courtney performed the 2nd movement of Chopin’s Concerto in F minor as a prize winner with the Mukilteo Orchestra. In 2021, she received a full scholarship to attend the highly selective Seattle Piano Institute at University of Washington. She has earned three Gold Cup trophies from the National Federation of Music Clubs. She earned First Class Honors from the Royal Conservatory Music Program’s level 10 in piano performance in 2020. Her other interests include reading, playing with her dog, and playing on the computer. Courtney has been a student of Dr. Yelena Balabanova at the International Conservatory Studio since 2011.
