Courtney Tam’s first piano performance was at the age of four at a student recital in front of an audience of more than a hundred. Since then, she has enjoyed performing and sharing the gift of music through festivals, recitals, community performances, and competitions for solo and ensemble. Courtney is the winner of this year’s SCMTA concerto competition. She also earned top honors from the Northern Lights International Festival in the Concerto and French Composer categories, Best of Festival awards from the Time Era Festival for two consecutive years, Gold Medal in the Chopin NW competition, the Anna Rollins Scholarship, and the Helen Crowe Scholarship, as well as received a full scholarship to attend the highly selective Seattle Piano Institute at University of Washington among other achievements. Courtney passed level 10 of the Royal Conservatory Music Development piano exam in 2020, receiving First Class Honors. She has earned two Gold Cup trophies from the National Federation of Music Clubs by successfully completing its challenging requirements. She serves as an accompanist for her school advanced choir. Her other interests include reading, playing with her dog, and playing on the computer. Courtney is a student of Dr. Yelena Balabanova.
