
Darin Nguyen is a Southern California native going into his junior year of high school this fall. He has played the piano for over 9 years and is currently studying under Youngsook Park. Darin is a consistent winner of Diamond Bar Branch competitions and has made high achievements in state and international level competitions as well, winning the Southern California Junior Bach Festival Concerto Competition, CAPMT Honors and Contemporary competitions and the Pelican International Music Competition. He has also received honorable mentions at the LA Liszt International Competition and MTAC Solo Competition.
Aside from solo piano, Darin has played the violin and piano in his school’s philharmonic orchestra, performed for the school musical, and has been in the marching band for 2 years, helping his school reach state finals for the first time in school history while maintaining straight A’s. His other hobbies include biking, solving rubik’s cubes, cheering for the Los Angeles Chargers, and producing his own music videos. Darin hopes that this competition will be an opportunity for him to share his music with a wider audience.
