Derek Hou, age 16, began violin studies at age 7. He currently studies with Hirono Oka. For the past 2 years, Derek has been a member of the Philadelphia Sinfonia Orchestra and Philadelphia Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra, serving as the Second Violin Principal. Derek has also played in the Philadelphia Center-City Chamber Orchestra, South Jersey Philharmonic, and the Philadelphia Young Artists’ Orchestra. When not playing violin, Derek enjoys hiking and photography.
