Pianist Duo Zhang’s performance combines lyricism and attention to detail with fiery virtuosity. Among his accomplishments are First Prize at the 2020 Franz Liszt International Youth Piano Competition and First Place in 2021 TTU Keyboard Area Concerto Competition.
Originally from Southeast China, Mr. Zhang attended Xiamen University, where he completed the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Economics (2018), followed by the Master of Music degree in Piano Performance (2021). Duo’s principal teachers were Jennifer Ku and Albina Orischuk.
Currently Mr. Zhang is pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Texas Tech University with Dr. Nataliya Sukhina. As a graduate assistant, Duo works with the TTU Opera Theater. Besides working on staples of solo repertoire, he enjoys promoting music of Asian composers and collaborating with vocalists and instrumentalists.
