A first-year at Oberlin Conservatory, Dylan Bachmann began studying cello at the age of six in Washington D.C. Since then, he has had the opportunity to study with teachers in Sydney, Australia, at the Hochstein School of Music, the Eastman Community Music School (ECMS), and currently with Darrett Adkins at Oberlin. Dylan is a graduate of the ECMS Diploma Program, achieving the Pre-Collegiate Diploma in Cello with a Certificate of Advanced Achievement in his senior year of high school. He is an avid chamber musician, participating in the Eastman Community Music School Chamber Music Program for 6 years, where he performed in masterclasses with David Ying, Guy Johnson, and Melissa White. For three summers, Dylan studied under the tutelage of Matt Zalkind at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, where he also performed in masterclasses with members of the Balourdet Quartet. This January, Dylan was chosen to participate in the Oberlin Conservatory Hidden Valley Chamber Music Intensive in Carmel Valley, California. He was also a member of the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra for 4 years. Dylan has also performed in masterclasses with Steve Doane, Natasha Farny, and Matt Zalkind, and earned numerous scholarships as a student at ECMS.
