Eleanor Gil

Eleanor Gil, 16, began her music journey on the piano at age 3 for eight years and played violin for two. However she felt more compelled by the deep, resonant sound of the viola, so she turned to viola and has studied under her teacher, Kim Yun-Sun, since the age of 10. Eleanor won the lots competition at the KAMSA, SVMC, PVMC, and USIMC. In January 2024, she participated in BAYOF (Bay Area Youth Orchestra Festival) at SF Davis Symphony Hall. Eleanor has been the principal violist in CYS’ senior orchestra since the 2020-2021. She will attend CASMEC’s CA All-State HS symphony orchestra in February 2024. Beyond competition and orchestra, She has volunteered at local. (Silicon Valley Youth Symphony) as well as AYM, while playing at senior homes.
