Ella Phillippy is a classically trained pianist from Maryland, USA with eleven years of experience playing solo compositions, concerti, and ensembles. She is currently a high school senior and has been playing the piano since first grade with Dr. JeongEun Park Kang. She has won numerous competitions at the District, State, and International levels during that time. Her most recent accomplishments include two performances at Carnegie Hall in Fall 2021 and 2022, as well as a performance at the Mansion at Strathmore in July 2021. Ella recently won the YMIC International Young Artist Audition in 2022 and was the Grand Prize Winner for the 2021 AMMA Festival in the Piano Concerto category. She also won 2nd place in the Piano Chamber Senior Division at the 2021 YMIC International Competition, 2nd place in the Piano Trio category at the 2021 Charleston International Spring Music Competition, 2nd place in the School Students Category at the Spring 2021 American Protégé International Music Talent Competition, and 1st place in the Piano Chamber category along with a Special Jury Award at the 2020 Metropolitan Music Festival. In 2019, Ella was a finalist for the Young Artist Concerto Festival and had the privilege of performing with a professional orchestra at the winners recital. Ella loves bringing the world of music to others and has been involved with various musical non-profit organizations since 6th grade, including as a volunteer piano teacher for underprivileged elementary schoolers in her area. Her favorite composers are Brahms and Tchaikovsky. Beyond piano, Ella is an avid horse rider and enjoys competing in USEA recognized horse trials.
