
Ellie Ahn is 14yrs old and is currently studying under Christina Smith. She was the principal flutist of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra. In addition to winning this year’s MYSO concerto competition, she has also won Atlanta Flute Club’s 2023 Junior Artist Competition in Middle School Division. This year, Ellie selected for the first prize in Best Bach Competition of Great composer Competition and the second prize in American Music Talent Competition. In 2022, she was selected for the second prize in the Pelican International Music Competition in April, and second place for the US International Competition in August. She also received an honorable mention in the 2022 Georgia Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Woodwind Junior Performance Competition.
In addition to competitions, she is actively involved in many different musical activities. She made District Honor Band and Georgia All State Honor Band as first and second chair, respectively, in 2022. She was invited to perform at UGA’s MidFest Honor Band in 2021. She took part in the flute choir of the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra in 2021. In her school, she has been in the Wesleyan School Marching Band, directed by Jeff Foster, and played a flute solo for the band in 2022. She was invited to accompany the high school chorus concert with the flute. She played along with professional musicians in a live school musical, “The Sound of Music,” in April 2023. She enjoys traveling down the journey of playing and practicing this magical instrument, the flute, along with many people.
