
Emily Hamilton is an American coloratura soprano with a passion for presenting contemporary music. She will be featured by the Wichita Grand Opera in two separate operas this coming season. She is a Voice, Bassoon, and Piano Instructor at Palen Music Center. Additionally, she is a Soprano Section Leader at First Presbyterian Church.
Emily recently performed in Bernstein’s Candide with the Wichita Grand Opera, as a member of the chorus. She has performed with them numerous times since moving to Kansas in August 2023. She has also been a participant of the International Music Festival of the Adriatic, where she had the opportunity to perform classical and contemporary works in Italy and Slovenia. With a love for collaborating with living composers, she has worked alongside and premiered eight works by composers Lily Koslow, Sean Smith, Julian Green, Gabriel Wallerstein, Christopher Ducasse, Hyo-Won Woo, and Thomas Quirion.
Emily is currently based in Wichita, Kansas where she is further developing her professional skills with her voice and bassoon. She is a recent graduate of the Schulich School of Music of McGill University where she obtained her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance under the tutelage of Anja Burmeister.
Emily’s passion for music was born from a love of languages. She is fluent in Spanish and English; additionally, she has studied Italian, German, and French in a university setting as well as numerous other languages in her free-time. This appreciation for languages shows in her performances: Emily has performed in English, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Haitian Creole, Latin, Russian, Mongolian, Hebrew, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, Arabic, Swedish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Icelandic. She looks forward to working on music in other languages in the future.
