Emrys Tu

Emrys Tu is a nine-year old who started playing the piano when he was five years old. He picked up the violin during the pandemic when he was six years old.

Emrys gave his Carnegie Hall debut performance in January 2023. At seven years old, he became Concertmaster of the Sacramento Youth Symphony Vivace Strings Orchestra for the 2021 Winter and 2022 Spring recitals. At eight years old, he was chosen by the conductor of the 2022 Sierra Mountain Music Camp to take the Principal Second Violin position and lead the middle school and high school players in his section.

Emrys has volunteered to play his music at community and senior centers since he was six years old. He loves music from the Romantic and Contemporary periods, where he can play very expressively. His favorite composers include Chopin and Tchaikovsky.

In his free time, Emrys builds Gundam robots and Lego creations, and has even competed and placed in Lego competitions. He has a black belt 2nd dan in Taekwondo. Most recently, he is trying out the oboe.
