Erik Rodriguez Jr., 11 years of age/ 6th grader, attends Conchita Espinosa Academy in Miami, FL. Since he was eight years of age, Erik’s great-grandmother taught him the fundamentals and basics required to succeed at piano. These lessons revealed a natural talent and appreciation for the piano. Soon after, Erik’s parents, recognizing his immense talent, enrolled him in private lessons with Mrs. Yirka Ledon, Conservatory Music Department Head, and Piano Teacher at Conchita Espinosa Academy. Mrs. Ledon has been instrumental in providing Erik with daily private lessons. Erik continues to thrive under Mrs. Ledon’s instruction and continues to advance, performing various difficult works.
Erik excels in learning difficult piano techniques, rapid composition memorization, and inquiry of musical analysis. These skillsets have helped Erik grow quickly into a proficient pianist. Erik feels his favorite composer, Frederic Chopin, echoes his own feelings when he says, “Put all your soul into it, play the way you feel”. Erik says the piano provides a deep connection to his feelings, allowing him to express himself to the world through music. Erik intends to continue his passion for performing in concerts and expanding his portfolio of works performed.
