Erik Hee Sung Kim

Praised by well-known Yamaha artist, Lisa Yui, for “the uncommon play with the great clarity and confidence”, pianist Erik Kim has concertized worldwide, from South Korea to Russia to Austria to Hungary to the United States. He performed in several concert halls including Cosmos Hall (Seoul), Jordan Hall (NEC, Boston), Matthias Church on Castle Hill (Budapest), and Mozarthaus (Vienna). Also, Mr. Kim has an extensive repertoire that contains solos, concerti, and chamber music from the 1600s to the contemporary pieces in the 2010s. In addition to the standard repertoire, Mr. Kim worked with several underrepresented composers such as Isang Yun, Unsuk Chin, Eun Young Lee, Tailleferre, or Slonimsky. He is a prizewinner of several competitions such as the 33rd Korea-Germany Brahms Association Piano Competition 2nd prize in 2015.

Mr. Kim was born in South Korea. His primary study was at Far Eastern University with Raisa Illyuhina in Russia (a student of the legendary pianist and instructor Heinrich Neuhaus). After moving to the United States, he studied with a renowned Bach interpreter, Sergey Schepkin (a student of worldwide pianist Grigory Sokolov and Russell Sherman) at New England Preparatory School and Walnut Hill School for the Arts. After receiving a diploma, he enrolled at Manhattan School of Music, and he is currently studying with Marc Silverman and John Forconi.
