Ethan Lo

Ethan Lo is a 16-year-old cellist from Marietta, Georgia, who began studying the cello at age seven under the guidance of renowned mentors, including Guang Wang, Wendy Warner, and Daniel Laufer. Coming from a musical family, Ethan’s mother holds a DMA in piano, his father is a computer science professor and guitarist, and his sister is pursuing dual degrees in violin performance and arts management at The New School.
Ethan is a student in Walton High School’s Advanced Math and Science (AMS) program, known for its rigorous academic curriculum. Despite the demands of his coursework, he excels as a musician. As principal cellist of Walton’s chamber orchestra, he performed at the 2022 Midwest Clinic in Chicago. He has also served as assistant principal cellist in the 2023 GMEA All-State Full Orchestra and earned 3rd chair in 2024. Since 2023, Ethan has been a member of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, where he continues to refine his skills and explore the beauty of orchestral performance.
As a soloist, Ethan holds an ABRSM diploma in cello performance (2023) and a Grade 8 distinction in piano (2022). He has earned top honors in competitions such as GMTA, American Protégé, and the International Charleston Concerto Competition and has performed at Carnegie Hall three times.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Ethan is passionate about computer science. He aspires to integrate his technical and artistic talents to drive innovation and make a meaningful impact in the world.
