
Evan Wu, a 3rd grader at Morgantown Suncrest Elementary School, began his piano journey at age five under the guidance of Dr. Juliana Yap. Over time, he’s had the opportunity to participate in various music competitions, where he’s been fortunate to receive recognition for his efforts:
- In the 2nd Golden Piano Talents Competition 2023, Evan received a Gold First Prize in the Baby Category for Classical Music.
- At the Golden Classical Music Awards, he was honored with the First Prize and an Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize, earning him an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall NYC.
- His success continued with a First-Place win at the Star Cluster Music Competition in Summer 2023, where he was invited to perform at the Winner’s Concert in Toronto, Canada.
- Additionally, Evan has been fortunate to achieve First Prizes in competitions such as the Royal Sound Music Competition Summer Season 2023, MEDICI International Music Competition, and the 21st Century Talents Music Competition Summer 2023.
- He also received First Prizes in specific age categories at the Red Maple Keyboards and Caneres International Music Competitions and the Landon Classical Music Competition.
- Evan received First Place at the 2023 MTNA Mountain State Competition in Elementary Piano.
- In December 2023, he received First Place and was awarded the Exceptional Young Talent Award at the International Music Competition “”Bonn”” Grand Prize Virtuoso and invited to perform at the Beethoven House in Germany.
- Recently, Evan placed first and was awarded the Exceptional Young Talent Award at the 2024 International Music Competition “Amsterdam” Grand Prize Virtuoso, and performed at Kleine Zaal Concertgebouw in the Netherlands.
Evan is grateful for these opportunities to grow as a musician and appreciates the chance to perform at esteemed venues like Carnegie Hall NYC, Beethoven House in Germany, and Kleine Zaal Concertgebouw in the Netherlands.
Evan’s diverse interests extend beyond music; he enjoys sports like ice skating, basketball, and tennis. Alongside piano, he also plays the violin. His favorite subjects are coding and math; during his spare time, he finds joy in playing with his cat. Evan embraces the excitement of performing and loves exploring different parts of the world through his musical journey.
