Evan Yao

A student of Dr. Erika Klassen, Evan Yao is a freshman at Chadwick School in Palos Verdes, CA. He was introduced to piano at the age of 6 soon noted for his talent in music. He is a silver medalist of the 2022 Junior Bach Festival’s Complete Works Audition and the 3x regional winner of the competition. His honors have included First Prize at the Satori International Music Competition and multi-medalist in MTAC Winter/Spring competitions. Outside of competitions, Evan is a passionate advocate for service and is a board member of the MSSL Music Student Service League. What inspires him about classical music is not only the beauty conveyed through the musical lyrics that nurture the soul but also the expressive, artistic aspects of performances that project his perspective to the audience.
