
Evangeline Selking, a junior at Downers Grove South High School, has studied under the guidance of Laurel Tempas for three years. Evangeline is a co-principal flute of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras’ flagship ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, where she also plays piccolo. Recently, she performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as a winner of the 2024 Pan-American Music Awards. She was selected for the ILMEA All-State Honors Band in 2023 and 2024, and performed as principal flute in both the ILMEA District I Orchestra in 2024 and District I Band Band in 2022. Evangeline was a recipient of the Downers Grove Music Club Rising Stars Award in 2023, IHSA Best of the Day Award in 2022, and was the first place winner in the 2022 American Wind Band competition. She has had the honor of performing in masterclasses for Amy Porter.
