Evelyn Kao began her musical journey at age 4 with piano and started learning violin with Dr. Shih-Ting Huang when she was 7. Her awards include First Place in the 2024 Charleston Baroque Music Competition in 11 years old violin division, First Prize in the New Heart Piano Competition in 3 consecutive years from 2022 to 2024 in the Intermediate Division, Honorable Mention in the junior division of the 2024 Concerto Competition of the Houston Youth Symphony (HYS), and Excellence Award of the Solo & Ensemble Contest. As a member of HYS, Evelyn was the concertmaster in the Spring Concert of String Orchestra in 2024 and principal of Violin 2 in Philharmonia Orchestra this year. She also served as the assistant concertmaster at the Texas Region 9 Middle School Symphony in 2024 and was rated 1 in the Solo and Ensemble Contest.
