
Evelyn Shengxi YANG, a talented 11-year-old pianist. At the age of 9, she has admitted into the Pre-College Division of The Juilliard School where she studies with Pro. Ernest Barretta. Evelyn is also a former student of Phillip Kawin (deceased) at Manhattan School of Music Pre-College at the age of 7. Evelyn currently attends both The Juilliard School and The Dalton School in New York City. Evelyn’s dedication and commitment have yielded impressive results. Evelyn has received prizes in numerous competitions, such as a grand prize for the Crescendo International Piano Competition at the age of 8 and a gold medal for SIPF Virtuoso Artists, etc. She has performed multiple times at Carnegie Hall, Paul Haul, Morse Haul, Assembly, etc. Evelyn has masterclasses with artists such as Boris Slutsky, Alan Chow, Hie Yon Choi, and Steve Spooner. Moreover, Evelyn takes Composition and Conducting lessons at Juilliard Pre-College.
Other than music, Evelyn is also a writer and history lover, she was a John Locke shortlist winner (Commendation Award) and invited to the awards ceremony and academic lectures at Oxford University. In addition, she was also a winner of the Scholastic Scope Contests, a national writing competition winner. At school, Evelyn is a member of student governments as a class representative, middle school history club founder, and Co-founder of the Latin Club. She is regularly a school guest speaker to share her writing work during her English and History classes. Besides that, Evelyn is an actress, she filmed the movie “Piano Prince” in 2022. In addition, Evelyn is an adventure world traveler, natural Lover, and mountain hiker, she traveled to most of the U.S. national parks, and most countries in Europe and Asia, the furthest place she has traveled to is the Arctic Circle and observed Aurora. In addition to sports, Evelyn loves hiking, skiing, paragliding and diving.
