Gaiyatri Mathew, 15, studies piano with Ms. Jeanie Lee at the Rivers School Conservatory (RSC) where she is enrolled in the Young Artists Diploma Program (Level IV) . She has been playing the piano for 10 years and is also a member of the Conservatory Program at the Rivers School, where she learns Chamber Music.
Gaiyatri has won first prize in the A. Ramon Rivera Piano Competition, and is a medal winner in the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association, Bay State Piano Contest and The Steinway Society of Massachusetts Piano Competition. Gaiyatri has received multiple Piano Dept. Awards and the David Beyer Piano Scholarship at RSC. She won a gold medal and played in the Honors Concert in a duo performance at the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association (MICCA).
In 2021, Gaiyatri premiered a piece written for her by Kavita Shah at the Seminar on Contemporary Music for the Young and in 2024, she played pieces by Lera Auerbach at the Seminar.
She has attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s (BUTI) Young Artists Piano Program and has performed in masterclasses with Sally Pinkas, Stephen Drury, and Hugh Hinton.
