Gene Chang is a Del Norte High School junior in San Diego, California. He has played piano for 12 years, starting from when he was five, under Sun Yung Cho. Musically, He has won First Place in the International American Protege Music Talent Competition 2023. He has also won 2nd place in the 2023 Charleston 19th Century Music Competition. Furthermore, Gene has qualified and played in the CM Piano Panel Honors Recital at the 2022 MTAC State Convention. Gene was also awarded third place in the MTAC Concerto Competition in 2018, along with obtaining various MTAC Sonata Contest Titles. In 2021, he qualified and received the Honor Award in the Southern California Junior Bach Festival. He maintains a high motivation for playing piano and a passion for the arts.
