George Mamakos

George Mamakos

George Mamakos, 17 years old, is a senior at Austin Preparatory School. He began playing piano at the age of five and as a result has participated in numerous competitions that have earned him awards and recognition. Some of his achievements include Second Place at Elite International Competition Winners with a recital at Carnegie Hall, Honorable Award winner at the Boston International Music Competition, and Second Place at the Charleston International Music Competition. Also has placed as a SECOND PRIZE Winner of the 2025 “Golden Classical Music Awards” International Competition and will perform this coming March again at Carnegie Hall. He has also participated in several local charity events including a Christmas Carol concert at the Consulate General of Greece in Boston, the Hellenic Nursing Home Holiday Event, the Andover Commons Charity performance, and the Giving Thanks with Music concert at the shops at Chestnut Hill, MA. He also participates at the Onset School of Music biannual recitals.

At school, George has been part of the band performing on percussion during various events, has performed piano pieces during holiday celebrations, and has also been asked by the headmaster of the school to perform at a board of trustees meeting at his residence. Beyond his academic excellence, he is a member of the Austin Prep delegation at the National Race Amity Conference that promotes cross-racial conversations and relationships.

Outside of music, George is a competitive downhill ski racer, is a dancer in a Greek folk dance group in Boston, enjoys photography and after his Driver’s license, he is working on getting his pilot’s license.
