My name is Yuhanhan (Hanna) Xia and I am a passionate cellist who has been playing for the past 6 years under the expertise of Dr. George Atanasiu. I am also a 9th grade student of Spartanburg Day School. As an aspiring musician, I have always strived to improve my skills and exceed expectations; to take pride in what I have accomplished.
Throughout the years, I have had the privilege of performing in various places such as recitals, orchestras, and multiple concerts. I have attended Germantown Friends School Strings Summer Camp in Philadelphia for five years and have been accepted into the 2023 Orvieto Festival of Strings. These experiences have allowed me to develop a strong sense of musicality while also honing my technical abilities.
Among my achievements are entering the South Jersey Orchestra for two years, scoring assistant principal cellist in 7th grade, and being accepted into the Young Musicians Debut Orchestra under Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Music Institute with the position of assistant principal cellist. Right now in 2024-2025, I am part of the Youth Artists Orchestra in Greenville, SC as third chair cellist, where I have been a member of the organization for a year.
Watch Hanna Xia perform Concerto No.1 in A Minor, Op.33, Movement 1 by Saint-Saëns on the cello for the 2024 Autumn Music Competition as part of the Charleston International Music Competition.
