Ian Lee, a current junior in Fairfax High School, born in Fairfax, Virginia, began his violin studies at the age of seven. He currently studies with professor June Huang in Fairfax, Virginia. He was a second prize winner without first prize at the 2021 Asian American Music Society(AAMS) Competition, received an Honorable Mention Award at the Young Musicians Inspiring Change (YMIC) International competition, and was third place at the Great Composers Competition Series. Ian has been admitted into the Northern Virginia Senior Regional Orchestra in 2019, 2020, and 2021, the Virginia All-State Orchestra in 2021, and the Northern Virginia District Orchestra in 2018. Last summer, Ian attended the Sewanee Summer Music Festival in Tennessee with a merit scholarship where he was associate concertmaster, assistant concertmaster, principal second violin, and associate principal for the second violins. At Sewanee, Ian studied with Dr. Gregory Lee from The University of Oklahoma. Ian has also been a part of the American Youth Symphony Orchestra in 2019-2020, and the American Youth Concert Orchestra in 2018-2019. Aside from violin, Ian enjoys swimming, playing golf, and cycling.
