Ian Loo began his violin journey at the age of 5 and has since performed at world-renowned venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. In 2017, as a member of a quartet, he performed at the Concert Festival Grand Prix Winners Recital at Carnegie Hall. Now a senior in high school, Ian has been deeply involved in musical pursuits within his community. This December, he will play in the NYSSMA Conference All-State String Orchestra. Ian recently took the ABRSM Grade 8 Performance Exam and passed with distinction. He has also served as the concertmaster of his school since his sophomore year. Ian has been a member of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York (Nassau Principal Orchestra) for the past 3 years, where he held the positions of principal 2nd violin and assistant concertmaster. As principal 2nd violin, Ian played solo parts during the Carnegie Hall premiere of “Cold Mountain Suite” by Jennifer Higdon. Additionally, he regularly participates in the NMEA All-County and LISFA music festivals. Ian enjoys spreading his love of music with others and hopes to inspire younger musicians to pursue their passion. As an officer of his school’s Tri-M chapter, he believes music participation creates connections and strengthens the community.
