Jackson Thomas Hunt

Jackson Hunt (b. 2003) is a double music major junior at Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio, majoring in both piano and composition. He studies piano with Dr. Alvin Chow and composition with Dr. Michael Frazier. His former piano teachers include Steinway Artist Yeeha Chiu and Sean Baran, and his former composition teacher is Robert Schultz. Jackson began playing the piano at age 3, and he started taking lessons at age 4. Jackson has performed several times in the lobby of Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh as well as in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City. He has also performed in numerous chamber ensembles and, before going to Oberlin Conservatory, was a member of the Steinway Society of Western Pennsylvania. Jackson has won many awards for both composition and piano, including 3rd prize in the 2023 Tuesday Musical Scholarship Competition, 1st prize in the 2022 Opus National Competition, and 2nd prize in the 2021 Pennsylvania MTNA Senior Piano Competition.
Jackson plans to further his music studies in graduate school.
