Jaime Yong

Jaime Yong, a 17-year-old junior at Carlmont High School in Belmont, California, has studied the harp for over seven years under the guidance of Alexandra Perdew. Jaime has also had the privilege of working with renowned harpists Alfredo Rolando Ortiz (Danza de Luzma), Kathleen Bride (Colorado Trail), and Maria Luisa Rayan (Prelude from Lute Suite No. 1, BWV 996).

Her musical achievements include top prizes at the Charleston Music Competition, including 2nd Place in the Contemporary Music Competition (2021), 2nd Place in the 19th Century Music Competition (2022), and 1st Place in the Summer Music Competition (2024). Additional honors include 3rd and 2nd Prizes at the 2020 and 2021 Arpademia International Celtic Harp Competitions and Platinum Standing at the VAYA International Festival. In 2025, she was named Principal Harpist of the California All-State Symphony Orchestra.

An active orchestral musician, Jaime has performed with the Peninsula Youth Orchestra and her high school Symphony Orchestra since her freshman year, where she was honored with the Rising Star Award. In 2024, she earned a Merit score on the ABRSM Grade 7 Pedal Harp examination. Outside of music, Jaime enjoys painting and sewing in her free time.
