James W. Lin is 9 years old and a 4th grader in Massachusetts, USA. He began learning the cello at the age of 7 from Ms. Deborah Thompson and is currently studying with Mr. Eugene Kim at the New England Conservatory Prep. He is passionate about making music with his school and community youth orchestras (New England Conservatory and Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra) and playing chamber music with his friends and family. He has won First Prize at the 2024 Amsterdam and Vienna Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competitions, Gold Prize at the 2024 London Young Musician International Classical Music Competition, Second Prize at the American Protege International Music Talent Competition, and Grand Prize at the International Youth Music Competitions. He has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York, Kleine Zaal, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Glaserner Saal, Musikverein in Vienna.
