Jane Morrison

Jane Morrison is a National Symphony Orchestra youth fellow, based in Washington, DC. She has held principal viola positions with numerous school orchestras and American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras, rising each year to a higher level ensemble. Jane has won awards in several music competitions, including the Washington Performing Arts Feder Competition (U.S.) and the Best Beethoven Competition (U.K.). Jane was selected as Principal Viola at the Virginia State District XI Junior District Honor Orchestra. Jane has performed solo viola concertos with orchestra accompaniment at both National Music Educators Association and Virginia Music Educators Association conferences, as well as in New York City aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid. Jane has attended the Interlochen Advanced High School Quartet program and the Philadelphia International Music Festival with viola scholarships the past two summers. She has also performed in many master classes taught by musicians from leading orchestras. Jane has a passion for sharing her love of music with the Washington, DC community. She has performed in the National Gallery of Art, The Lyceum, Howland Cultural Center, BlackRock Center, Martin Luther King library, as well as outreach concerts at retirement centers and places of worship across the metropolitan area. Jane studies with Ms. Tsuna Sakamoto, violist for the National Symphony Orchestra.
