Jayson La'Kenneth Brown

Jayson Brown, a native of Swainsboro, Georgia, is pursuing a degree in Music Education at Georgia Southern University. He has studied saxophone under Dr. Carolyn Bryan since the eighth grade. During his pre-college years, Jayson earned selection to prestigious events such as the University of Georgia’s Midfest and Janfest, as well as District and All-State Honor Bands on multiple occasions. In 2023, he achieved first-chair placement in the GMEA All-State Symphonic Band, performing under the baton of Col. Don Schofield. He has also worked with other renowned conductors, including Randall Standridge, William Owens, Scott Hanna, and Robert Dunham.
At Georgia Southern, Jayson is actively involved in numerous academic, musical, and leadership roles. He serves on the executive boards of the Zeta Omicron chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the Collegiate National Association for Music Education. As a Goel Scholar in the Honors College and a student ambassador for the Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music, Jayson exemplifies academic excellence and dedication to the arts. His musical contributions extend to several ensembles, including the GS Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Southern Quartet, and Southern Saxophones. Additionally, he has enriched his artistry by participating in masterclasses with distinguished saxophonists Otis Murphy and Sue McKenzie.
