Jiyoung Lee


Flutist Jiyoung Lee is an award-winning flutist and educator. She is the Second Prize winner of the Charleston International Flute Competition and was invited to perform at the National Flute Convention in Japan as a Geumpa Flute Ensemble member. Jiyoung Lee was awarded the Academic Scholarship of Dean’s Incentive Grant, a full scholarship at the college, and a master’s degree in Korea. She also received the Graduate Award Full Remission of Tuition at Duquesne University, the teaching assistant award, the special talent award, the K.Herberger Music Scholarship, and the Eriene Peggy Lamb Music Scholarship at Arizona State University. As an active soloist, she was a principal flute in the Korea philharmonic orchestra for five years, and she has performed regularly in both the U.S. and Korea. In addition, she has been featured in various concerts, such as Geumpa Flute Ensemble, Korea Flute Society, Park Chang-Soo House Concert, and Triano Woodwind Quintet in Pittsburgh. She also performed as a soloist with Korea Philharmonic Orchestra and was invited as a guest flutist in Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra. She was also invited as a flute instructor for the master class at Keystone Oaks Highschool in Pittsburgh and New Meadow Run Bruderhof Community in Pennsylvania. Flutist Jiyoung Lee earned her Bachelor’s and master’s degree in Korea. After coming to the U.S., she earned Artist Diploma from Duquesne University and a Certificate of Professional Performance from Temple University. Most recently, she finished the coursework of her Doctoral of Musical Arts from Arizona State University. In addition, she was a director in the Arizona Community Flute Ensemble and a teaching assistant in the ASU flute studio and woodwind Lab class. She has performed in masterclasses, Jeanne Baxtresser, James Walker, Alberto Almarza, Damian Bursill-Hall (USA), Jean-Michelle Tanguy. (Austria). Jiyoung Lee has studied with Jennifer Steele, David Cramer, Youngjoo Kim, Chulho Lee, Elizabeth Buck.
