Over the past 7 years, Johnny Wu has been honing and exercising his musical talents on the violin in Newport Beach, California. 3 of those recent years he held leadership positions in the Newport Harbor High School String Ensemble, 2 years being principal second violinist, and 1 year as the prestigious concertmaster role. He will assume the role of concertmaster again for his senior year in high school. Earning the Director’s Award for Orchestra in 2023 and the National School Orchestra Award in 2024, Johnny has also participated in many performances with the Newport Harbor High School String Ensemble, including showings at Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, California and Quincy Market Public Square in Boston, Massachusetts. Growing up with a background in piano performance and studies, Johnny has also developed a sizable music knowledge, indulging in both music theory and adapting to the way of the performance life.
