Johnston Lai

Johnston Lai

Johnston Lai is from Kirkland, Washington and has played violin over 11 years. He is appointed as concertmaster at Lake Washington High School, and was a concertmaster at Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra. He was selected to perform at Mozarteum Salzburg in 2024 as well as WMEA All-State Orchestra in 2023. He performed at prestigious concert halls, including Kammermusiksaal Beethoven Haus in Bonn, Germany in 2021 and Carnegie Hall in New York in 2022, Perugia Italy in 2023. He won 1st prize in 2021 Bonn International Music Competition, as well as the 2021 NY Strings Competition, 2nd prize on 2020 London and Paris Grand Prize Virtuoso International Competition, and 3rd prize on 2020 American Protégé Concerto Competition. Besides violin, Johnston explored his music interest by learning other instruments like piano, flute, cello, guitar, ukulele, and vocal. He received merit on ABRSM Grade 8 exam. When Johnston is not playing music, he loves to play sports like golf, volleyball, and basketball.
