Joshua Gaumer

Joshua Gaumer from St. Marys, Kansas is a 15-year-old piano student of Dr. Kristi Baker-Lampe from Topeka, Kansas. He has been studying piano since he was 4 years of age and his favorite composer is Beethoven.

Joshua has competed in several piano competitions since the 3rd grade. He is the 2020 & 2021 Runner-up in the KMTA (Kansas Music Teachers Association) Honors Auditions; the 2022 Alternate Winner & 2023 Winner in the MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) Junior Competition; the 2023 winner of the “Jane Baird Weeden” award; the 2023 & 2024 Midwest Division Silver Medalist & 2024 International Final Round 2nd Place Winner in the IPPA (International Professional Pianists Association) Conero Competition.

In July of 2022, Joshua was a participant in Washburn University’s inaugural “Summer Keyboard Academy,” directed by Dr. Lucy Tan, which he attended again in 2023. In 2024, Joshua was accepted to the prestigious PIMF (Philadelphia International Music Festival) piano studies program, directed by Yu Xi Wang of the Curtis Institute of Music.

Joshua is a 10th grade student at St. Mary’s Academy, where he has received numerous academic awards since the 2nd grade. He is an avid reader and very active in his church community. Upon completion of high school, he plans to study for his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance with minor studies in organ.
