
Joshua Kim is a Junior at Valley Christian High School(VCHS) and plays violin in the VCHS Chamber Ensemble and is a co-concertmaster in the VCHS String Ensemble. He plays first violin in San Jose Youth Symphony Philharmonic Orchestra, and in the Almaden Youth Musicians’ Ensemble. He began playing violin at the age of 6 and is currently studying with Sunny Kang. Joshua has competed and won various competitions as a violinist, including the 2017 Korean Times Youth Music Competition, 2019 KAMSA Competition, 2020 SJYS Concert Orchestra Solo (1st) Competition, 2021 Chamber Orchestra’s Concerto Competition (2nd), 2021 Silicon Valley Youth Music Competition, 2023 American Protege Piano and String Competition 2023 Intermediate category (1st), 2023 US International Open Music Competition Violin Solo, Advanced category (1st) and 2023 USIOMC Chamber Ensemble Prodigy (1st).
He has participated in several benefit concerts, including KAMSA , HopeBox and AYM because he believes that music can be a means to connect communities and support one another.
Besides his passion for the violin, he’s also been playing piano and clarinet for several years. Besides music, He enjoys sports and has previously played for the men’s water polo and swim team at Valley Christian High School.
