Joy Ni

Joy Ni is a 16-year-old sophomore attending Fort Mill High School in South Carolina. She began playing the violin at the age of 6 and currently studies privately with Ara Gregorian of East Carolina University.
Joy has previously won Grand Prize in both the Intermediate and Advanced divisions of the Charlotte Symphony Guild’s Young Artist Competition and soloed with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. She was also a finalist at the Hilton Head Youth Concerto Competition and won the state division in the MTNA competition in South Carolina.
Aside from solo repertoire, Joy has also been involved in youth orchestras since age 9. She is currently concertmaster of the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra. While attending the 2021 Vivace Music Festival, Joy has performed in masterclasses for Miriam Fried, Ida Kavafian, Jennifer Frautschi, and Paul Biss. She attended the 2023 Summer Academy at Encore Chamber Music Festival. Joy annually participates in Four Season’s Next-Gen Workshops and East Carolina University’s Summer Music Chamber Institute.
