Julia Yi

Sixteen-year-old Julia Yi began playing the violin at the age of four, currently studying with Leonid Keylin, Jan Colman, Professor Ron Patterson, and Professor Simon James, who are internationally recognized pedagogues. Julia has earned many awards, ranging from prizes in state, regional, and international competitions, which include First Prize awards in international competitions in Seattle, New York, London, and Italy, earning the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall in New York at the age of fourteen.
She is a scholarship recipient of the Edgar Borup Memorial Award and Special Adjudicator Award, and twice winner of both Concerto and Solo in the Performing Arts Festival of the East Side USA. Julia received many Gold Seal Awards at the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival. She was awarded the honor and title of the Distinguished Gold Medalist in the Seattle International Virtuoso Artist Festival in USA. Moreover, she has won awards in Seattle Music Teachers Association Simon-Fiset and Korean Music Association in both Seattle and National. She won the Gold Trophy of the Pacific Northwest Concerto Competition and was honored to perform with the Bellevue Symphony Chamber Orchestra. She was awarded a First Prize Winner of the International Music Competition London Grand Prize Virtuoso and invited to perform solo at the Royal Albert Hall in 2023. She won a Platinum Award to perform with the Bellevue Symphony Orchestra in February 2024.
She has served as Concertmaster and Principal for the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra and as a soloist at Benaroya Hall in Seattle at age eleven. Additionally, her work has been exhibited in the public eye as she was selected for the High School Northwest division and All-State Honor Group Orchestra. Julia is a winner of both the region and the state of WA in the Solo and Ensemble competition.
Julia’s musical talent has emerged not only as a violinist but as a pianist. She has studied with the premier teacher, Allan Park. She was awarded in various piano competitions, including Gold medalist at the Virtuoso Seattle Competition and awarded in the Sonata Competition. Her talent in music arts expanded in a well-known international traditional dance academy until age ten, where she performed at various theatres, including McCaw Hall in Seattle. These distinct experiences in the arts have helped her develop new goals and visions for the future.
