Julie Mejer

Julie Mejer

At the age of 5, I began taking piano lessons at my local music center. I enjoyed meeting new people and playing songs I liked. Slowly but surely, piano became my greatest passion. It’s been over 9 years of continuous lessons, practice, and learning. Although there were times of difficulties, music not only opened the route of piano to me, but also many other instruments such as violin, guitar, drums, and even the harmonica. When I was 9 years old, I started learning the violin, and found out that I have great interest in the strings, and joined the orchestra at my school. I became first violin (first chair) in my chamber orchestra, and had the privilege to play at numerous events. Along the way, I have picked up guitar for fun, explored drums, and eventually I learned how to play the harmonica to pair with many of the songs I enjoyed playing, such as Piano Man by Billy Joel. Aside from music, I am also deeply interested in theatrical arts. As any other young girl, I was obsessed with Disney. I just couldn’t help but dance with the princesses on the big screen and sing along with Ariel. That’s when I knew I wanted to be an entertainer. I started exploring acting since age 8 and I have been dancing ever since I was 6 years old whether that be ballet, folk dance, or hip-hop. When I was 12y, I joined an Art performing school where I now get to train every single day to become a better person and artist. But through it all, piano has and always will be the root of all the things I love, and I hope to improve my skills not only as a pianist or musician, but as an artist.
