Junhong Zhou

Junhong earned his undergraduate degree from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and a Master’s degree in Violin Performance at the University of Central Oklahoma. He is currently in the ABD of his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Iowa.

Between 2013 and 2017, Junhong served in the first violin section of the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, collaborating closely with esteemed conductors such as Ricco Saccani, Matthew Kasper, Zuohuang Chen, and Joshua Tan. His tenure with the orchestra allowed him to showcase his talent in various cities throughout China, including Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Guiyang. Additionally, in March 2023, Junhong successfully auditioned for a position in the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra.

In 2022, Junhong took the initiative to form the Kaydenn String Quartet, where he assumed the role of the first violinist. The quartet is dedicated to community music development and sharing their passion for music. In collaboration with the University of Iowa ArtShare program, they have embarked on various performances with diverse themes across different regions. Moreover, in 2023, Junhong and the Kaydenn String Quartet were invited to perform at Kirkwood Community College and engaged in a chamber music residency with the Knox-Galesburg Orchestra. They were also invited to tour Wisconsin as part of the Green Lake Festival of Music.
