Junnosuke Yanagisawa

Junnosuke Yanagisawa, age 15, is a ninth-grader at Leigh High School in San Jose. He began violin lessons at age 4 and currently studies with Antoine van Dongen. He was a part of the Golden State Youth Orchestra (GSYO) for eight years, and currently attends the Cal Prep Music Chamber Program. He was awarded 1st place in the DVC/HNU Young Artist Competition and 1st place in American Protégé International Music Talent Competition in 2020 and was invited to play at Carnegie Hall in New York. He also earned 2nd prize in the KAMSA Music Competition, Honorable mention in the United States International Music Competition in 2020, 1st place in New York Young Virtuoso Competition in 2021, and 1st place in Silicon Valley Music Competition in 2022. He was selected as one of the winners for Junior Bach in 2023. In 2023, he won the Global International Music Competition in Canada. He plans to attend the Meadowmount Music School this summer to study with Gerardo Ribeiro, from Northwestern Bienen School of Music. He also has some experience with two violin duos with his sister.
Outside of violin, Junnosuke enjoys attending San Francisco Japanese School every Saturday and was awarded several prizes for international essay contests in Japan.
