Kashyap Prasad

Kashyap A Prasad, age 14, started his piano study at Music Institute of Chicago under the guidance of Dr. Christina Tio in 2014. Kashyap often participates in Sonata-sonatina festivals winning gold medals in 2017, 2019, and 2020. These competitions are conducted by the North Shore Music Teacher Association (NSMTA), Chicago Area Music Teachers Association (CAMTA), and the Naperville Music Teachers Association (NMTA). In 2015, Kashyap completed the Illinois Achievement in Music Examination Level 2. In 2018, he completed both his Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music, UK (ABRSM) Grade 5 practical and theory exams. Kashyap was selected to play at Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) Biennial National Conference March 2020 in Chicago with Dennis Alexander. Kashyap has recently been selected by audition to perform in September 2020 with Marina Obukovsky at the Biennial SAA conference, Minneapolis. Kashyap got selected to participate in the Wallace masterclass October 2020 to work with Dr. Catherine Kautsky. Kashyap is a team player and enjoys participating in the Chamber and Duo piano music program offered at Music Institute as a pianist. Kashyap regularly participates in recitals and concerts at Music Institute and in the community. He is a student at Forest Bluff Montessori. He demonstrates the love for learning, which essentially forms the core of who he is. He practices diligently, always showing the grit and perseverance needed to accomplish a piece. In addition to his music, Kashyap plays for a travel soccer team, loves running and playing tennis. He spends his free time reading with his dog at his feet.
