Kendrick Seojoon Kim

This is Kendrick Kim, and I have been playing the flute since I was in the 4th grade. I always thought that the flute was unique, because of its beautiful sound from a small body. I practiced hard and acquired different techniques, such as vibrato and flutter tongue. I enjoyed learning about music theory and how to read sheet music. I also enjoyed playing different pieces of music, from classical to pop. I found that playing the flute helped me to improve my hand-eye coordination and my memory. It also helped me to relax and reduce stress. I am grateful for the opportunity to play the flute, and I believe that it has made me a well-rounded individual. I participated in a solo and ensemble contest (IJAS) and got the gold medal. I joined my school orchestra the moment I was eligible to join, and I have been an active member since the 6th grade. I also started playing the piano in kindergarten, and I continued to study until the 4th grade. I did a couple of piano recitals, as well as a Sonata/Sonatina Festival where I won the gold medal. I took a few different AIM and Theory tests and was successful there as well.
