
Lauren Tillman is a flutist from Huntsville, Alabama, currently pursuing her BM in flute performance at the University of Alabama under Dr. Diane Boyd Schultz. Lauren is acting as the principal flutist in the university’s Symphonic Band and as the bass flute player in the UA Flute Choir. She performed on the bass flute as part of the National Flute Association 2024 Melanin Rhapsody. Lauren is currently conducting research on the bass flute under the Arts and Sciences Support for Undergraduate Research (ASSURE) after being awarded a grant from the program for her research proposal in March, 2024. She is a winner of the Chamber Music Tuscaloosa Roger’s-Dean Award in 2023. Lauren performed in the 2023 WGI Percussion season as a World Finalist Soloist. She was a finalist in the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Audition in 2023, and co-founded the Sparkman Charity Wind Ensemble in 2022.
Lauren’s previous teachers include Madeline Cawley, instructor of flute at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and Phyllis Peterson.
