Lauren Kang

Lauren Kang is a 14-year-old violinist based in Long Island, New York. She is currently attending Plainview Old-Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School and studying at Musart Music with Eric Tsai and Rose Hsien. At the Heifetz Institute of Music in 2023, Lauren studied with Wanchi Huang. She was accepted to the Manhattan School of Music Precollege in 2021 to the studio of Sheryl Staples (although she did not attend).

In 2022, Lauren won the Musart Music Competiton, allowing her the opportunity to perform at Adelphi University with Musart faculty. She has performed at Mary Baldwin University with the Heifetz Institute during the Junior Division Showcases and Matinees. Lauren has also volunteered many times to perform at senior citizen homes.

In addition to solo performances, she has studied and performed with many talented and hard working musicians in chamber settings. She has studied with many chamber coaches and has performed in many groups.

Lauren took part in the Level 6 NYSSMA Festival in the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade for violin, obtained full scores, and proudly attended LISFA and the All-County Orchestra in grades 7, 8, and 9. She has also participated in the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra in 2021, where she was the section leader of second violin. At school, she has chosen to be in the orchestra for POBMS and POBJFKHS for 5 years, where she held board positions and helped her conductors with orchestral events.

In addition to music, Lauren is a very dedicated and hard working student academically. She excels in school and has received awards and certificates for her dedication to academics. Although not very physically active, Lauren enjoys going to the gym and playing tennis with her friends in non-competitive environments.
