Lauren Sakura Juntunen

Lauren Juntunen, 15 years old, started playing violin at age 6 and is currently studying under Dr. Ayako Yonetani. She was placed Honorable Mention in the Florida’s 2021 MTNA State Senior String Competition, 2nd of the intermediate category in the 2021 FSMTA State Concerto Competition, and 2nd in the Florida’s 2020 MTNA State Junior String Competition. She was recently selected for the 2022 Florida All-State Orchestra. Lauren participated in several highly competitive competitions in Japan. In 2019, she was a finalist in the Japan Classic Music Association Competition. In the same year, she won third place at the Japan Junior Violin Competition. Before coming to Florida, she studied for four years under Atsushi Shimizu in Japan.
